Hatyai celebrates The International Balloon Festival every year. Usually, it happens in March, every first weekend or second weekend. It's a three days event that starts on Friday and will end on Sunday. More than 10 hot air balloons from different countries join the annual event. The hot air balloons are big and colorful. The event is always held at Jiranakorn Station. Located at 65/24 Nipatsongkrew 2 Rd, Tambon Hat Yai, Amphoe Hat Yai, Chang Wat Songkhla. For Google map click here

It's good to bring the whole family to witness the extravagant hot air balloons festivals. The kids will truly enjoy seeing huge hot air balloons. You can come in the field and take a look closer to these hot air balloons. Take photos as much as you want. A lot of huge Hot Air Balloons that are pleasing in the eyes. Every year this event is getting bigger. More and more countries are joining the said event every year.

The best time to come here is late in the afternoon when the sun is out around 4 to 5 in the afternoon. Spend more time here until evening. In the evening the fire that comes out from the Hot Air Balloons is spectacular. Don't miss this event because it's only happened once a year. Don't worry if you get hungry, a lot of shops, restaurants and food stalls around. The 7 Eleven is just across the entrance of the stadium.

To come here without your own car or motorcycle, you can ride white songtaew for 10 baht. Ask the driver first if it will pass the Jiranakorn Stadium. To ask in the Thai language "Pie Jiranakorn Mai" means "Is it going to Jiranakorn?". When the driver says "Chai" means "Yes". Ride the songtaew and stop at the intersection in Jiranakorn Stadium. You can also ride a motorcycle from the heart of the city for only 20 baht.

If you plan to visit Hatyai in March, make sure not to miss this event. You can visit their official Facebook page by clicking here to update the schedule of the event.
